Realize Websites helps mentor Dexter High School students.
Hudson Education Center for the ArtsRealize Websites worked hand-in-hand with the Hudson Education Center for the Arts by mentoring a high school computer programming student to maintain and enhance their website.
This internship provided the student with a high school credit, while working with the computer teacher, music students, HEC board member and Laurie. We developed this internship as a byproduct of the “Bus to Business” workshop organized by the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce and the Dexter Community Schools Teacher Association. |
Dexter Drama ClubRealize Websites supports the Dexter High School Drama Club by mentoring drama club officers to maintain the website.
Students update the calendar, add web pages for the various productions, and enhance the portfolio with pictures of the performances. Presently the students are using an online editor so that they can make updates from whichever computer they are using. |
It is rewarding helping our teens learn valuable skills.
"This internship with HEC and Realize Websites was such a great experience. I learned so much about working in a real job setting, developing and creating professional looking sites, and keeping things organized. Thank you so much for the opportunity, I really had a lot of fun."

"Working on the Dexter Drama Club website with Ms. Kokmeyer helped me understand how to be professional. I learned how to communicate professionally and what it takes to put information on the Internet. It also taught me how to handle stress well, as we had a lot to do. This partnership was definitely worth the experience."

"I was privileged to work with Ms. Kokmeyer when I was the public relations officer of the Dexter High School Drama Club, and in charge of creating and managing a pretty detailed website. With no previous experience, Ms. Kokmeyer was invaluable to me as she taught me everything I needed to know from the ground up. She was very friendly and always quick and willing to help if I emailed her a question. I have even been able to implement this skill set in making a website for a club I am participating in as a college student, and Ms. Kokmeyer has been happy to answer my questions years later, and even offered an extra training session. My experiences have taught me skills I will be able to implement throughout the rest of my career."
