Laurie Lacca has been developing websites since the early nineties when she was one of the first teachers in her school district to design a classroom and team website so that parents and students could easily check on important dates, homework, school news, etc.
In 1999, Laurie was recruited to become the computer teacher and librarian for Waverly East Intermediate School. She was selected due to her technology literacy and passion for cutting edge instruction.
After moving to Washtenaw County, Laurie became the technology teacher and media specialist for Whitmore Lake Middle School. She brought many new ideas and ways to integrate technology into the middle school curriculum. She also assisted the district in aligning its curriculum with the state technology standards and benchmarks.
After 16 years of teaching in the public school systems, Laurie earned licenses in "Investment Company Products and Variable Contracts" (Series 6) and "Blue-Sky Uniform Securities Agent" (Series 63). She assisted Finlan Asset Management, Inc. increase their assets under management by $10 million in just one year. By focusing on the design and analysis of financial plans for individuals and institutions, she addressed the various planning needs for clients, prepared marketing and enrollment materials, and developed the original website.
In 2007, Laurie decided to take on the challenge of forming her own company in honor of her father, Edward Kokmeyer, who was also a local business owner. The colleagues that work together at Realize Websites are diverse in their expertise and believe in the principles of building community relationships and helping individuals succeed.
Laurie earned her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Michigan State University in K-8 Education and her Masters of Education from Grand Valley State University in Educational Administration. She also has earned an endorsement in Information Technology and Library Science.
